Trinity River Toll Road Modification
Back in the day when Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert and Angela Hunt were debating against a Toll road in the Trinity River Floodway the Dallas Morning News(DallasNews.com) put out a artists rendering of what the proposed highway would look like. Well I noticed the rendering was missing many of the ugly details that would have to be located on such highway so with Photoshop in hand I added those items back in. Now a couple of years later while the tollway is in flux and design aesthetics have been adopted that reduce the amount of clutter we might see on this project the original rendering still missed most of what makes a tollway a useful roadway in modern society. The original rendering did not have any sign-age or overhead lighting which is required in the many levels of government to make night time driving on public freeways safe. Tolls are now handled much easier without the clunky dangerous toll booths but they still require cluttered overhanging equipment. The original also had only four lanes of traffic two in each direction. It may be just me but I think we all know they are going to build more than two lanes in each direction by the time they open the freeway so I brought the lane count up to a more sensible number for a freeway, 6 lanes. I sent this version posted above to elected officials detailing why the original was misleading to voters.
